Twitter

Peoria Notre Dame High School’s principal died Tuesday.

Peoria police and the county coroner’s office were called to Randy Simmons’ home on North Avalon Place after receiving a report of a deceased man.

The 61-year-old was pronounced dead inside his home at 3:31 p.m. The Coroner says no additional details about Simmons death are being released at this time.

Simmons retired from District 150 as principal of Peoria High School. He was named Peoria Notre Dame’s principal in 2014 after serving one year as the school’s assistant principal.

The Office of Catholic Schools recently named Simmons Distinguished Principal of the Year.

Simmons was planning to retire from the principal's position in May.
