District 150 looks to parents for leadership, feedback

Peoria Public School officials are hoping to strengthen ties with parents, as the district works toward finalizing a long-term strategic plan.

District 150 board members  meet with the Parent-Teacher Organization at Glen Oak Community Learning Center at 5:30pm tonight.

Interim Superintendent Sharon Kherat says she’ll present her drafted plan but is more interested in receiving feedback from parents. Part of Kherat’s five-year plan is aimed at getting parents and families more engaged in their child's learning.  The plan is also directed toward improving access to rigorous curriculum and expanding community partnerships, so students are more prepared for college and the workforce.

District 150 spokesman Chris Copelan says they're hoping to inspire parents to get involved in school leadership and get more PTOs up and running.
